BEWARE!

All my listings that I put on Craislist have my email (heidi@realpro.cc or heidi@eprohomes.net)and phone number (832-603-9111, 1-877-603-9111, office 281-378-1824)  just like the one on this website.  If you see an ad from me with a different phone number, please call me or email Craiglist.

There are selling/rental scams using Craigslist taht has targeted the unsavvy consumer.  Detailed property information and photos are being hijacked from reputable real estate agents around the country by scam artists.  If it sounds to good to be true, it is! If the rent seems so low you can't pass it up. DO!

Landlords who live outside the country use real estate agents.  We don't advertise that the landlord is out-of-state or country.  We never ask for deposits to be wired etc.  We don't ask for personal information, until you come into the office, we meet, fill out the proper TREC forms, see the property and agree this is the one for you.  It's NOT ALL DONE OVER THE INTERNET!

If you see your listing is a victim of this type of scam. Or if you feel the ad your are looking at seems like a fake, call your local sheriff's office and email abuse@craigslist.org.   Make sure to include the URL (and the 10 digit post ID number) and as much information as possible.  Please don't be a victim!

There is a rental scam using Craigslist that has targeted some properties listed for sale on NorthstarMLS. Property information and photos are taken by criminals from public broker/agent Web sites and then listed as a rental home through a Craigslist classified ad at an unbelievably low rate. The landlord-who had to leave the country and travel to Nigeria-asks that you wire him two months’ worth of rent. You arrive at the home on the agreed-upon date, but there’s just one small problem-the house is not actually for rent and its owners know nothing about your agreement. This latest scam being perpetrated by Nigerian criminals located halfway around the world has been seen in a number of U.S. states, perhaps in response to the current housing market-with fewer people buying, more people are renting.

What to do if your listing is a victim of this scam

Email the details to abuse@craigslist.org. Be sure to include the URL (or 10-digit post ID number) in your message.
